Don’t Drop (the “Game”) is a puzzle game for Android (an iOS version is planned). Use of the Game is also governed by our Terms and Conditions. This policy explains what information the Game and our partners collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum the Game needs.
1. Information we collect ourselves
The Game can be played without an account. Signing in is needed only for the community features described in section 5. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or precise location.
2. Information stored on your device
The Game saves the following on your device:
- Game progress – which levels and worlds you have completed.
- Settings – music and sound volume, graphics quality, frame rate and vibration.
- Purchase status – whether you have bought the one-time upgrade.
- Ad consent choice – if you were asked about personalized ads.
You can erase your progress with “Reset Progress” in Settings, by clearing the app’s data, or by uninstalling the Game.
3. Advertising
The Game is free and supported by ads shown by third-party advertising partners: Unity LevelPlay and Unity Ads (Unity Technologies). To show ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud, these partners may automatically collect:
- your device’s advertising ID (on Android, the Google Advertising ID);
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
- device and app details such as device model, operating system version, language and app version;
- how you interact with ads (impressions and clicks).
They may use this information to show ads that are more relevant to you. We do not control, and do not receive, the data they collect for their own purposes. Their use of it is covered by their own privacy policies:
- Unity LevelPlay and Unity Ads – https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
Your choices. You can reset your advertising ID or turn off ad personalization in your Android settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads). Where the law requires it, such as in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the Game asks for your consent before showing personalized ads, and you can change that choice at any time in the Settings screen. You can also remove ads completely with the purchase described below.
4. One-time purchase
You can pay a one-time fee to remove ads and to unlock the Level Creator and community levels described in section 5. The payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. We only receive confirmation from Google Play that the purchase was made, so we can unlock the features. If you reinstall the Game or change device, you can restore the purchase with the same Google account. Purchases are also covered by Google Play’s terms and privacy policy.
5. Community levels (Level Creator, sharing, voting and rankings)
The Game lets you design your own levels and, if you choose, share them with other players. Players can play shared levels, upvote them, and see which are most popular. To provide this we collect and store on our own server:
- Sign-in details – to publish levels or vote you sign in with your Google account or your Facebook account. We receive only an identifier for your account from the sign-in provider (not your password, friends list or posts), plus nothing else unless you choose to share it. Facebook’s and Google’s own policies apply to the sign-in process. We use it to attribute your levels and votes, stop duplicate votes and let you recover your content on a new device. We do not receive your password. We create a separate player ID for use inside the Game and never show your email or real name to other players.
- A display name – only if you choose to set one. It is shown publicly beside levels you publish. Please do not use your real name or any personal information.
- Levels you publish – the layout, title and date. We review levels before they become public to all players. Until then only you, and anyone you give the level’s share code to, can find and play it.
- Votes and scores – the levels you have upvoted and any completion records you submit.
- Reports – if you report a level, we store the report and the level’s ID.
- Technical data – our server and hosting provider keep standard logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. We keep these logs only for a limited period, normally no more than 90 days.
This information is processed on our server, which is hosted by Namecheap in the United States. Levels you do not publish stay on your device.
Content rules. Do not publish levels or names that are offensive, hateful, sexual, illegal or that infringe other people’s rights. We may remove content and block access to sharing for anyone who breaks these rules. You can report content from within the Game.
Your levels. You keep ownership of levels you create. By publishing a level you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it to other players within the Game.
Deleting your content. You can delete levels you published, sign out, or use Delete account in the Game’s community account menu to erase your account and everything linked to it. You can also ask us to delete your account data by emailing us at the address above or by following the steps at https://18bitsgaming.com/delete-data.
Google user data
If you choose to sign in with Google, the Game uses Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0) so you can publish, vote on and manage community levels. This section describes how we handle that data.
- What we access: your Google account’s unique identifier (the “sub” value in the sign-in token). We do not request or use access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, contacts or any other Google service. If the sign-in tool also returns your name, email address or profile picture, we do not store or use them.
- How we use it: only to recognise you when you come back, so your levels and votes are linked to the same player and so you can recover them on a new device. We do not use it for advertising, profiling or any other purpose.
- How we store it: the identifier is stored on our server in a database that only we can access, together with the player ID and display name used inside the Game.
- Who we share it with: nobody. We do not sell, rent or transfer Google user data to third parties, and we do not use it to serve ads.
- How to delete it: use Delete account in the Game’s community account menu, or email support@18bitsgaming.com. We then delete your identifier and all levels, votes and reports linked to it. You can also remove the Game’s access in your Google Account under “Security > Your connections to third-party apps and services”.
The Game’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Facebook user data
If you choose to sign in with Facebook, we receive only your Facebook app-scoped user ID. We do not request your friends list, posts, photos or email, we do not store your name or profile picture, and we use the ID only for the same purposes as the Google identifier above: recognising you, linking your levels and votes, and letting you recover them. We do not share it or use it for advertising. You can remove the Game’s access in your Facebook settings under “Apps and Websites”, or delete your account in the Game.
6. How we use information
We use the information described above only to run the Game, save your progress and settings, show ads, unlock your purchase, and provide community levels, voting and rankings and keep the community safe. We do not sell your personal information.
7. Sharing
We share information only with the providers described above (our advertising partners, Google Play and, for community features, our hosting provider and the sign-in provider you choose: Google and Facebook), as needed to provide ads, process purchases and run our server, or when the law requires it.
8. Children’s privacy
The Game is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to object to its use for advertising. For ad data, requests are best directed to our advertising partners using the links in section 3 or your device’s privacy settings. For community data (your account identifier, display name, levels and votes), contact us and we will delete it on request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Data security
Your progress and settings are stored in the Game’s private storage on your device. Community data is sent to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and our server only lets each player change their own levels and votes. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the data we hold.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how information is handled, we will update this page and the effective date above, and where required we will tell you in the Game.
